Enameling Process of Enamel Parts For BBQ Grills

Early barbecue grills were heated with charcoal, but now they use cleaner liquefied petroleum gas or electricity.

Because the burning part of the grill and the parts that come into contact with things must not only withstand the high temperature during food processing, but also remain stable during use without decomposing toxic substances. Therefore, enamel material is called the best material of choice.

The whole product is mainly divided into furnace cover, furnace body, grilling net, combustion system and bracket. The main parts of the furnace cover, furnace body and grilling net that are exposed to high temperature are made of enamel material.

1. Barbecue grill enamel body material

Most of the barbecue furnace body is made of high-quality low-carbon steel plate of 0.5~1.0mm, and the grilling mesh can be welded by iron wire or cast iron.

2. Enameling of barbecue grills

There are many enamel coating methods for barbecue stoves. Most of the small carbon stoves are dipped by hand, and the large gas stoves, especially those with more than 3 burners, are mostly sprayed. Because large parts have many mounting holes and corners, it is difficult to make the entire surface enamel evenly, which affects the overall product appearance.

3. Firing of grill enamel parts

The thickness of the shell base material of the mainstream barbecue enamel parts is 0.5~1.0mm, and the firing time is mostly 3~5min. The firing temperature does not exceed 860°C. The firing temperature of cast iron baking pan and grilling net is below 760, and the firing time depends on the volume and thickness of the casting, generally not less than 12min.

4. Physical and chemical properties and inspection of barbecue enamel parts

The enamel parts used in barbecue grills have strict food safety requirements. Most of them use the European Union's Rohs and the US FDA standards, mainly for chemical composition requirements.

The main part used for the grilling operation inside the furnace body is also subjected to high temperature and rapid temperature changes during grilling, so these parts need good heat resistance and rapid temperature change resistance.

5. Assembly of the grill

There are many differences in the product assembly of gas and charcoal grills. The components used in gas require strict safety testing before they leave the factory, while most of the charcoal grills are delivered in parts, and users assemble them according to the instruction manual. Regardless of the method used, great care must be taken in relation to the assembly of the enamel parts, as far as possible without requiring the user to do too many operations on the enamel parts that may cause damage to the enamel layer.
