Enamel Frit Ball Milling Equipment

Nowadays, enamel frit is mostly milled by ball milling machine. The milling time depends on properties of the frit, types of milling additives, amount of solvent and the requirements for the fineness of ready to use powder or enamel slurry. Generally, it can be few hours to ten more hours.

Enamel factory mostly uses batch-type ball milling machine. The ball mill cylinder is loaded with a certain amount of milling ball, frits, or additives and water. The cylinder is rotated by the motor, the milling ball and the material to be ground are attached to the inner wall of the cylinder to rise. When the material rises, there will be a small range of sliding down. At this time, the effect of the pulverization is "friction". When the material reaches a certain height, it falls due to gravity, and the frit, clay, etc. in the cylinder are crushed by the impact of the milling ball. Therefore, the entire pulverization process is performed by both friction and impact.

The texture of the ball mill tank liner can be Alumina corundum, ordinary tile or granite. Milling ball and linings should be of the same type. Compared with low-density natural pebbles (2.4~2.6g/cm3), the high-density Alumina milling ball (3.2~3.9g/cm3) has much better pulverization efficiency and wear resistance. It’s with high density which can generate larger impact and grinding force, so that the pulverization efficiency is higher. In addition, the high-density Alumina milling ball is harder and more wear-resistant, which can maintain more constant grinding conditions, and has less pollution to the enamel slurry, and has a shorter grinding time and a longer use life.

Milling ball should load account for 50% to 55% of total volume of the ball mill tank. The reasonable proportion of milling ball quantity is 30% for large balls, 40% for medium balls, and 30% for small balls. Too much or too little ball will reduce the efficiency of grinding. If the ball is too little, the material to be ground is easy to gather between the balls, so that the ball can not impact and grind; if the ball is too much, the space is too large, the impact force of the ball stone is reduced, and the grinding efficiency is reduced.

Smaller balls can grind the frit more finely, while larger balls are used mainly for impact.

The inner lining and milling ball of the ball mill machine must be inspected regularly. Damaged milling ball should be removed in time and estimate for damage and wear degree, and new milling balls should be added.

The rotate speed of ball milling machine has a great influence on the ball milling efficiency. If the ball mill rotates at a critical speed or higher, it will not be able to pulverize.

The reasonable rotate speed can be 70%-90% of critical rotational speed.

For critical rotational speed, it can be calculated according to the following formula:

V=32D^(1/2)

“D” refers to the diameter of ball milling tank.

Unit: (round/mins)

The feed of ball mill is first about 50% enamel frit, followed by the milling additives, then the rest of the enamel frit, and finally water. It’s as follow:
